📚Managing school and extra curricular/ homework piles

Welcome back to 'The Productivity and Books Spot'. Today I present to you a blog for all students and I hope it helps. Also, make sure to subscribe to my newsletter for more updates such as my frequency of blog upload action as it did go unstable for 2 months :-| !!

Today's blog is presented to you in two parts. Part one talks about Managing school and extracurricular activities and Part two is to manage homework along.

Part 1: How do I Manage school and extracurricular activities??

 #1

Categorise your time.. On how you spend your whole day. Also, categorise that time based on your amount of work.

Make sure you know what you do when, maybe you just want to do 3 hrs of homework, 1 hr for dance class, 30 mins for personality development, 20 mins of workout etc.

Check out my blog on time management for a pretty decent amount of help on categorising time.

#2

Try to stay ahead of classes because all of us know how slow-paced syllabus goes in class so you can always finish that concept beforehand and spend time on extracurricular activities you want to do and repeat the cycle. But if that is not possible for you then first catch up with what is going in school and then you can take things further based on your choice.

#3

The silver lining about extra stuff is that they motivate and push you to manage your time so always remember this and keep going.

#4

If there is alot more work, try to plan it already, you can try out my weekly planner list to assign days and time beforehand with this link! Because planning your time doesn't leave you wasting it or stay confused or what is mentioned in the next point.

#5

Do not procrastinate.
It just makes you lazier and who wants to be a couch potato when you can be super productive all time!

#6

Wake up early! It gives you more time. Maybe you wake up at 7:00 in the morning with no reason try waking up at 6:00 this gives you an extra one hour so maybe in that time you can do 30 mins meditation and 30 mins reading. You see.. maybe you won't be getting any time at all for these activities in your later hectic day but you do that brilliantly just by waking an hour early.

Extra theory here, which works absolutely great:

✔  The thought process of management

School homework and extracurricular together can be tricky to balance, if you are great with academics maybe you are missing with your practices or if your practices work well then maybe it is the academics so a balance is all you need.

Learn to manage your thoughts first, think about only the tasks you need to do, how you are going to accomplish them, how much time they will require, etc. Asking these necessary yet basic questions to yourself and having your thought process work continuously on them so that when you do it you know exactly how the task will be done.

Part 2: How to manage school homework piles?

School homework piles📚📋

If you get a lot of homework and get confused on what to do first and how to..then part two of this blog is there for your rescue. Definitely, as you go to greater standards the homework is more and so is the complexities in the topics. School give you regular homework that includes making notes, revising the lessons and also further notebook work, you also have assignments which includes some q/a then you have MCQ papers, researched-based project, project assignments and other fancy names and things for each subject and each unit...

Urrrrgghhh! You can even forget what to do and when.

So look at these 5 steps for finishing that fatiguing job.

  • Step 1

So, it all first starts with knowing what to do, even if you are already behind tasks just first make a list what all you need to for each subject but make sure you don't feel tired just by looking at it  >.<

  • Step 2

Plan now on just when you are going to do. Now here... You just might not feel like doing the work at all or maybe you do plan it and sit to do at the time but slouch away because you don't really feel like doing it! Well honestly, that happens with every single one of us if it is a task out of our interest boundaries then here comes step 3

  • Step 3

Get some motivation to kick start your work. Maybe watch some good YouTube videos that help you by telling you maybe some tricks to do things productively or sharing their good productive vlogs. Really they do help for motivation, my personal favourite Youtuber is: Ruby Granger. Here is her channel. Maybe you can also read something motivational/inspirational. Maybe you can just come back to this blog itself.

As this step is highly important, I will love to add more. Motivation also comes automatically when you know the reason why you are doing it and that matters to you so that internal force helps you to just do it. Maybe that homework gains you some marks so for some the marks are really important and they do it for them. For some maybe the marks don't matter but it matters to them that they are going to learn something useful that is going to help them either in the foreseeable future or in long term.

  • Step 4

Just sit down now at your workplace and make a list of all you need to do for the particular homework. If it's an assignment that contains question answers then make sure you have read the content then you read a question, find out and frame the answer then put it on the paper and do the same for the following questions. Its so simple you see...

  • Step 5

The treat trick: you know you will do the homework and you get some certain result for it but that is quite clichè and long term but treat system is you do your task and get the reward immediately. But here honesty plays a major role. This is how the trick works ☞ you have to write an essay and you commit this to yourself that you can only play your favourite game after finishing the essay. That eagerness of yours makes you finish it quickly so that you can play the game or read your book, or watch Run BTS! Or check your mails. If honesty doesn't exist here you feel - 'Oh! Do nothing with the essay I wanna play the game so I will do it ...I can do the essay after that' but that is just an excuse of not finishing the essay.

More (quick in-short) tricks that work for doing plenty of homework are:

  • Plan the days and time of when you do it
  • Run before hand if you can't, do the overdues first
  • Be sincere enough
  • Try to do them immediately and the day they are assigned if possible.
  • Set up a dedicated workspace
  • Remove all possible distractions
  • Prioritize tasks
  • Set a time frame for doing homework
